City within the City / "Trnitá City Block"
Menšík, David ; Hybská, Bohumila (referee) ; Nový, Vítězslav (advisor)
The assignment of the work was the elaboration of two planned blocks of the new Brno southern center. In cooperation with the Office of the Architect of the City of Brno, we adjusted them to the final form, from which twelve plots were created, for twelve graduates of the Nový-Palasčák studio. The land solved by me is located at the meeting of Opuštěná Street and the Svratka River. It thus forms an important urban corner, marking the newly emerging district. Due to its character, significance, size and multifunctional arrangement, I called this corner building „Opuštěná Palace“.
City within city Trnitá block
Kučírková, Veronika ; Šebestík, Petr (referee) ; Palaščák, Michal (advisor)
The topic of the diploma project is a design of a multipurpose building in a given city block structure which was prepared by KAM Brno in a local study plan "Southern Quarter - Trnitá - KAM Brno 2020" as a base material for future local zoning plan of Brno. The site is situated at corner of the block, in a proximity to a park along the river Svratka. The multipurpose building offers space for above-standard apartments as well as for office or commercial business. The massive cantilever created by the upper floors at the corner part is characteristic for the mass of the building and its opening the public space at the lower commercial floors.
Brno Skyscraper
Gebauer, Pavel ; Hybská, Bohumila (referee) ; Sedláček, Michal (advisor)
The architectural-urban design of the skyscraper responds to the proposed territorial study of the South District located near the historic center of Brno. The currently developing area is defined by the area of the new main railway station, the Svratka river and Opuštěná street. This new representative unit lacks an element that would make it unique even from a distant perspective. As well as the historical center with its cathedral of St. Peter and Paul defines the place, the skyscraper complementing the space of the new main station creates an authentic orientation element of the new urban district representing the innovative principles of the city's development. The location of the high-rise landmark near the main entrance of the new Brno railway station helps in easier orientation in the area. The vertical mass of the skyscraper contrasts with the vast and relatively low mass of the station hall. The composition of the building responds to the urban structure and location in relation to the historic center. The base of the building fully respects the regulations and the height level of the street in which it is located. The crown of the skyscraper rotates around its axis and thus directly reacts to the city center by its rotation, thus creating a dialogue between history and the future. The skyscraper is designed as a multifunctional object primarily represented by the function of a hotel with a congress center. These functions are also complemented by secondary units in the form of cafes, bars or restaurants. However, the building also has other services for users, such as wellness, fitness and massage facilities. The last floors of the skyscraper are designed as public. The functional content of the crown of the skyscraper is completed by a cafe and a sky bar with a brilliant views.
